By Challenging The Archbishop Of Canterbury Gordon Brown Shows Astonishing Arrogance

By Challenging The Archbishop Of Canterbury Gordon Brown Demonstrates Astonishing Ignorance I don’t usually come out in support of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams. My regular readers know that I have even challenged him recently to a public debate over his book about the great Russian writer, Fyodor Dostoevsky, a debate that I hope will take place at some point in the future.

But today I wholeheartedly give my backing to the Archbishop’s comments about the current economic crisis being a reality check for society that has become driven by unsustainable greed. I also support his assertion that the government’s attempts to save the banks by pumping billions into them amounts to suicide.

These are very sensible words. The crash in the economy was supposed to come, sooner or later, as the natural balance of things had long ago been tilted to one side, in favour of the greedy speculators of all kinds who called themselves bankers and hedge fund managers and even investors. Their dealings had nothing to do with sensible economy and have damaged the prospects of the majority of the people, who were sacrificed by these disgusting characters for the sake of creating their obscene fortunes. It was a time when the people, who least deserved any rewards, were getting most of them.

But, of course, Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who has been at the forefront of running a quasi economy built on consumer debt and financial speculations, immediately went on the attack against the Archbishop. Brown, who obviously has a strange perception of religion and faith, just like his predecessor, Tony Blair, did, tried to wave aside Rowan Williams’ words by claiming that by pumping billions into the banking sector and bankrupting future generations he was driven by a desire, and I quote, ‘not to walk by on the other side when people are facing problems.’ ‘That’s the reason,’ Brown said, ‘why our fiscal policy is designed to give real help to families and businesses and to give them help now.’

This is a man, who has contributed to the current crisis with his disastrous economic experiments. This is a true-blooded socialist, who was has blown billions on his social engineering schemes and allowed personal debt to get out of control in order to move the economy forward. This is a man, who has presided over the decline of manufacturing and who allowed the banking sector to get out of control, reverting to methods that were bordering on the criminal. This is a man, who clings to power and is obviously prepared to buy the results of the next general election with public money, just like his predecessor did by buying the previous election with cash given for peerages. Not to mention, of course, that this is a man who has never stood in a proper election to become Prime Minister.

Brown brags about helping families and businesses. In reality the only people he is helping are the money men. I challenge his to prove to me that he is helping small businesses, for example. If you are a small businessman you would not be able to get a loan from a bank nowadays. Trust me, I know, as I have spoken to many people and they have complained to me that it has actually become much harder to get credits and loans.

And as for helping families, well, you can see for yourself how this government is supposedly helping families. Cutting down VAT by 2.5 per cent does not constitute helping families but is, in reality, a blatant attempt to revive retail trade so that it can pay back the banks the money it owes them. Any economist would tell you that trying to stimulate consumer spending during the time of having an enormous overall personal debt amounts to betrayal of the people. Brown is risking creating a situation when social tension would simply explode into violent street protests and he would then get his stupid COBRA to hold a meeting in the basement of 10 Downing Street to condemn the protesters and approve the use of the police and the army to restore order.

This is pure communism: create a problem and then be seen as solving it.

There are obvious ways of helping families. First of all, the government has to step in and cover all the debt payments of the poorest households. It is a very quick and effective way of preventing hundreds of thousands of people losing their homes and getting bankrupt. Secondly, all payments to credit card companies have to be frozen for two years, with immediate effect, and their interest rates capped in the future. There should also be an investigation conducted in order to find out who runs credit card companies, where they get the money from and whether they are linked to any politicians and organised crime. Because some of these companies are very suspicious and are run by very shady people.

Thirdly, all mortgage payments of families with incomes less than £50,000 a year should be taken over by the government. And I’m not only talking here about payment of the interest on the loans. No, they should be proper mortgage repayments.

Fourthly, a law against usury, loan sharking, should be passed by parliament immediately. This would prevent future generations from getting into debt due to unscrupulous lenders. Fifthly, funds should be made available to unemployed people to start their own businesses, with a freeze on all taxes on these companies introduced for at least two or three years.

All these measures would really help people. But Gordon Brown would never do all of this as he is under total control of the money men, who demand that he uses public funds to bail them out of the current crisis. He has to be removed, one way or another, and as soon as possible.
