We Receive A Complaint From A Russian Actress, Who Got Upset By Our Take On The Film Industry

Hi there, everyone! This is your editor speaking.We have received a communication from one Russian film actress (in Russian), who got really upset by our article about the film industry in authoritarian states. We have translated it into English and took out some parts that contained some vigorous comments.

She writes:

Dear Mr Nekrassov,

I was absolutely devastated by the suggestion made on StirringTrouble that all famous Russian film actresses achieve stardom only because they are either related or are romantically linked to senior government officials. I will have you know that my romantic relationship with a beautiful man, who happens to hold a senior position in government, has had nothing to do with my success on screen. It was just a coincidence.

I hope that you will take this into account and amend your piece on the film industry in Russia accordingly.

I have checked the article in question and decided not to change a thing in it. I also decided to move it up a bit in the postings on the Home Page (it is now posted in today’s impressive selection of articles under this announcement) so that our readers can judge for themselves how impartial and objective it is.
