Readers Comment On Our Articles. Sometimes Very Boisterously

March 13, 2009

Brown and Co Before we present some of the recent comments from our readers we would like to announce that StirringTroubleInternationally is launching a survey would like to ask everyone who writes to us to include their age, profession, their hobbies and interests in their emails and tell us how they heard about us. It’s not an obligation, obviously, but every thousandth respondent will get a prize from us. And that can’t be bad, can it?

AGT-R writes in response to our article Prime Minister Brown Ends His Visit To The US. It Was Nothing More Than A PR Exercise: Since you’re so intent in criticizing Brown, why don’t you criticize the handling of his US visit? Certainly the Obamas did not treat him (or his family) as is required of a head of state, and mind you a state that we have been an ally to through thick and thin! It’s all over the news in UK but, good-all media kings are keeping their mouths shut about Mr. and Mrs. Obama’s mistakes! They will surely comment about Hillary’s, or better yet said Hillary’s Russian translators! But, don’t touch our golden boy and his liberal wife!

Tony, commenting on our take on the greening of Lord Mandelson (The Greening Of Lord Mandelson Actually Played Into His Hands. And That’s A Shame) an environmentalist protestor, says: You, sympathetic to Peter Mandelson, of all people —- I DO NOT BELIEVE IT !!!

In response to our take on the media frenzy surrounding the dying reality TV celebrity Jade Goody, Sonia writes: Jade is known for being untalented, common, loud, stupid, a bully and yet she’s constantly in the papers and now the US want to speak to her and all this is just because she’s dying! So are millions of other people Jade. Only they die without the chance to make ridiculous amounts of money to give to their families. They die in private with dignity, spending what precious time they have left with their loved ones. This media circus and the quest for further millions to add to her £3 million is pathetic and utterly disgusting. Children are dying in wars, of hunger, of abuse and of poverty but yet Miss Goody is not raising any of her money to charity like other stars do (remember Roy Castle?). This whole episode of voyeurism – watching someone die for money is sicken I feel sorry for the normal people who are dying, who have been forgotten. The poor woman should be dying with some dignity. The matter is becoming quite distasteful. Sad as I am for her it is time to put an end to this circus now. She has highlighted the need for young women to have smear test and made enough for her boys. Now she needs to think of all those people out there who are presently suffering from cancer and the effort all this is having on them, seeing her slowly and painfully die must be feeling truly bad – they must be wondering “Will that be me soon?” “Will I die too?” The media should do the right thing and pull the plug NOW.

Myboxbik from Russia, commenting on our article entitled Wife Of Russian Footballer Calls London ‘Scruffy’ and ‘Dirty’. Not A Good Idea’ writes: Похоже некоторые журналисты-дебилы из Англии не понимают разницы между неприязнью и тем что может просто не нравится. Иначе они бы не стали так по свински отзыватся о жене Аршавина. (It seems some idiot journalists from England do not understand the difference between despising and disliking something. Otherwise they would have attacked Andrey Arshavin’s wife in such a nasty way.)

Elena, responding to our article, Russia Enters The LNG Market, says: Russia is keen to break into this lucrative market.” Definitely she is, as well as those who are already there are keen not to let Russia do it. Just capitalism as usual. Good luck, Russia!

John tells us of his appreciation of the cynical message we conveyed in our humorous piece, Drinking For Politicians Should Be Obligatory. Then At Least We’ll Know What They Are Up To. He says: ‘Thanks for your lucid comments on the three ring circus which is public life to-day!!!!!!!!!!!’

Corvez agrees wholeheartedly with our take on President Nicolas Sarkozy trying to be like Tony Blair and please all people all of the time. Responding to our article Sarkozy Does An Impression Of Tony Blair. But fails To Impress he exclaims: ‘Excellent comparison!’ Annie agrees: ‘You were spot on. Sarkozy models himself on Blair. What a disaster for France!’

Ferdinand challenges our perception in the article Of Class Hatred: Some Thoughts On Why Labour Is Intent On Destroying The House Of Lords. He writes: ‘Your statement: “The Labour propaganda machine would have everyone believe that the House of Lords has never been ‘representative’, in the same sense as the House of Commons … Nevertheless, there is a sense in which, being a body of councillors either appointed or Hereditary, it is representative in the sense that the individual members are truly representative of the experience, distinction, knowledge, sense of service and achievements of individual members of the community.” Rubbish. The peers represent nothing but themselves, with no other interest than protecting their unearned wealth.’

Theresa, responding to R.F.Wilson’s take on women and mobiles in his, Women And Mobiles Phones: It’s An Obsession, writes: I’m guessing that R. F. stands for Mr. I am duty bound to inform you Mr Wilson that it sounds to me as though you have foolishly confused mobile phones with shoes. I’m not arguing that some women talk too loudly etc probably to attract attention, though I have always found that showing a little cleavage or some leg is a much more effective method of attracting attention. No it is the ‘obsession’ that I question. Women and mobile phones: It’s a prop – not such an interesting heading as Women and shoes: it’s an obsession.

Someone who calls himself MyNameDidntFit was greatly entertained by our piece on the obsession of some people with playing computer games, Open Letter To All The People Who Play Games On The Internet. And PC Games Generally that is posted on our featured articles section on the left of the home page. He says: Brilliant comedy. I laughed quite hard; well done!

Although we had quite a few rude comments to our articles ridiculing Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution we did have quite a few supportive messages too. In response to our humorous take on that big fan of Darwin, Richard Dawkins, in our piece, Richard Dawkins Is An Irritating Man. He Thinks He Is God, Peter writes: I couldn’t agree more. In fact, if you type in my name, Peter (surname provided), you’ll find me slandering the programme he did on the genius of Charles Darwin. And I got loads of my friends to pile on comments too… Good luck in tearing down Darwinism, in all it beguiling forms. I found what you wrote to be highly amusing. Keep up the good work!’

Several of our readers got so angry with our take on climate change in the article, Global Warming: It’s A Myth, that they sent us very rude comments. Here is a taste from someone who calls himself E.J.J.: You are talking f..king bull…t, mate…………Have you got any qualifications in climate science?…. I bet not!’ Another reader, Josh, was in a similarly boisterous mood. He writes: What the f..k is wrong with you!!! Have you all gone f..ing mad! Global warming is a fact. FACT!!! Get real!

Well, it just goes to prove that you can’t please all of the people all of the time.

– End –
