Honduras Showing The Way. For Britain

Honduras Showing The Way. For BritainThomas Mathew writes: Fancy that ‘coup’ in Honduras, eh? On orders of the supreme court of the land the armed forces arrested President Manuel Zelaya and sent him packing to Costa Rica. The court found him too corrupt to stay on as head of state. It was just that Mr Zelaya got it into his head that he should be president-for-life, and decided to stage a referendum to get himself the green light to run for office as often as he liked.Screw the constitution and people’s feelings, he and his allies decided. Most people do not know what is good for them anyway.

But it did not work out like that. It never does for opportunists and chancers who think that they can get away with anything. Eventually somewhere along the line the system haits at them or the people rebel and take them out.

But now we hear that the people of Honduras are protesting against the ‘coup’ and the down fall of their favourite president. Mr Zelaya, is a socialist, with a strong tilt towards communism, so a crowd of
loudmouthed troublemakers was on hand to support him. Left-wing thugs are always quick to hit the streets, especially when there is the chance of looting shops and businesses and making a bit of
money along the way.

But I am not really interested in President Zelaya. I am more interested in the way he was removed. The mechanism of national self-preservation worked and he was kicked out. So if it could work in
Honduras why would it not in Britain where an unelected clique is running the country, or rather running the country down. Its popularity is nearly zero and its policies are damaging to the nation.
A perfect opportunity the famous system of checks and balances in Britain to be activated to remove the vile Labour government.

So how could it work in practice? Well, first of all the leader of the opposition, David Cameron, should call on the British people to go out on the streets and demand that the government headed by an unelected Prime Minister, should step down. Obviously, it would not do such a thing. Then Mr Cameron should make an appointment with Her Majesty the Queen and ask our head of state to order the military in the face of the worsening economic situation to install direct rule, removing
the government and dissolving parliament for a period of six months to a year before the next general election. A military junta could take over and impose strict restrictions on all financial operations in the
City, freezing the printing of new money by the Bank of England and forcing the Treasury to reveal the real figures about the current financial situation. The junta should then move swiftly to investigate
the dealings of all banks that have caused the current crisis in the first place. Arrests of bankers would follow and their assets would be confiscated. Lending would become compulsory and credit card companies would be ordered to cut their rates of interest to under 5 per cent or face closure. Producers would be given credits at cut down rates and small businesses would be supported. The recession would stall and begin to reverse.

Now how does that sound to a British ear? Not a bad plan, eh? And all thanks to Honduras showing us the way.
