It’s Time To End This Madness. The Death Of Michael Jackson Has Turned Into A Farce
July 1, 2009
Adam Lovejoy writes: I suppose Sodom and Gomorrah, before they were wiped out from the face of the earth, had their own Michael Jacksons, averagely gifted singers, who were entertaining crowds with their weird dancing moves and gurgling vocals and dying predictable deaths. And there was also the press in S&G that musr have been covering the lives of celebs and getting all wound up when one of them died. (And I bet you that S&G had their publicly funded media, run by deeply unpleasant individuals with their vile agendas.) But it all ended in tears: S&G were destroyed and no one figured out that Mother Nature had simply had enough of all that stupidity and decided to end it.
And now, many thousands of years later, we have Jackson mania supposedly sweeping the world. It is all a joke really, an irritating joke that seems to continue even though very few people are still laughing. It is a bit like the grief that had supposedly gripped Britain in 1997 for months after Diana, Princess of Wales, died in a car accident, along with her then boyfriend, Doddi.
No one would dispute that there was a feeling of initial shock in Britain then, like it happens when anyone in the public eye dies suddenly. But there was no long term grief that some people, including irresponsible hacks and luvvies, were trying to portray. People went about their business and quite soon Diana became a distant memory. Just like it will happen with Jackson. And much sooner than most people think.
At the moment, though, we are all held hostage by a bunch of cunning marketing men, who are trying to make as much money as possible from the singer’s death. These are the creeps that inflame the passions of the so-called fans, groups of strange looking dudes scattered around the world who have no lives and would gather together at the first notice to work themselves up into a hysteria. Fans of Jackson are a weird lot. Mostly unintelligent, not very well educated, without a proper job and with low expectations. They mostly created the image of Jackson in their minds and worship him for the things that he was not in real life. They are all probably keen fans of the Harry Potter books and have never read James Barrie’s Peter Pan, a fictional character whom Jackson modelled himself on. Because Peter Pan is a clever book and it would be too complicated for fans of Jackson to understand.
We have already written on our site about the politicians who have unashamedly jumped on Jackson’s grieving bandwagon and made total fools of themselves. If they had any decency they would have stayed silent. But they could not resist the temptation to score political points. Although it is very hard to imagine who would be impressed by hearing, for example, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown expressing his sadness at Jacksons death.
U.S. President Barack Obama clearly had to say something. The brothers would not have understood if he stayed silent. Not to mention that Jackson was an American and a cult figure, of sorts. But the leaders of the black community should have not tried to turn Jackson into some sort of martyr of the civil rights movement in the U.S. They should have cautioned their followers to show restraint and not turn the death of the onetime popular singer into an embarrassing farce.
And as for Jackson’s family, it was only a matter of time before they used the occasion for their benefit.
Now we even hear that there is an idea of replacing the dead singer by his brothers and sister who would be performing instead of him in London. As a sort of tribute act, and all ticket holders would be asked to show respect for the dead singer and go watch the Jacksons instead of the real thing.
Meanwhile the craziness surrounding Jackson’s death continue and more and more people are getting really annoyed with this circus. They are saying that it is time to stop. Time to realise that other things are happening in the world. The wall-to-wall coverage in the media of Jackson’s death has become offensive and patronising. It is coming to a point when a backlash would start and Jackson’s name would become a symbol of vulgarity and over the top hysterics.
The marketing men will never understand that, of course. They are in it to make a buck. But let’s hope that some of the media at least will get hold of its senses and calms down. Enough is enough.

The media has treated this as the most important thing in the world right now. Shame on you for overlooking some important news happenings.
C. Dunbar, what an idiotic statement: The writer of this article would agree with you on your point that the media is treating this as the most important thing in the world right now; it is this exact point that he is emphasising to demonstrate why this whole hysteria is such a farce. i.e The profiting that is made from his death.etc. etc. I hope your statement was a sarcastic one. Either that, or you are a very good representation of the unintelligent masses the author spoke of in the above text.
