Greek Government Looks At Ways Of Raising Money

Martin McCauley writes from Athens: News that Greece is going to be bailed out by the EU to the tune of 30 billion euros this year didn’t really calm the financial markets that are anticipating that the Greek socialist government will make a mess of things and squander the money on silly gimmicks. The Greeks themselves are not expecting the EU money to come quickly, so they are desperately looking for ways to raise it by any means possible. Prime Minister: Comrades, we’ve managed to secure 30 billion euros from the European Union, but don’t pin your hopes too high on getting that money soon. I hear there’ll be legal challenges against this decision, popping up all over the place, in Germany especially. We need to demonstrate to the EU that we are trying hard to raise funds ourselves....

It’s got everything in it: the drama, the suspence, the tension, the deadlines, the tired worn out faces of the key actors, the calls to protect the American people. Yes, my dear readers, what is now happening in the American capital is nothing more than a farce. The White House knows it, the memebers of congress know it, the lobbyists know it and the money men on Wall Street know it and only the American people are kept unaware of what is actually happening. They, the people, seem to be under the impression that their elected representatives on Capitol Hill are fighting for their interests.
