We Remind Our Readers How We Tried To Avert A Disaster Happening In London. And Failed
July 19, 2009
In March last year I posted an article on this website warning our London readers that it was not a good idea to elect Boris Johnson as their Mayor in the May 2008 election. How right I was then and how wrong our readers turned out to be. The voted Boris in. Now they have only themselves to blame. Johnson proved to be a total disaster. Even worse than his predecessor, Labour’s Ken Livingstone.Today I post that article again, just to show how alert I was to the dangers of picking the wrong man for the job of London Mayor. Vote For Red Ken. Boris Will Prove To Be A Disaster I never thought I would say this but it would probably be better for everyone if Ken Livingstone stayed on as London’s Mayor after the election on May 1. This is very hard for me to admit because I have always...
Things I’d Like To Ask Former London Mayor Ken Livingstone
October 1, 2008
The London Underground is an embarrassment; one huge embarrassment. The trains are old and the tracks are even older, the signal system is outdated and breaks down all the time. The stations look shabby and the heat and stuffiness throughout most of the year are unbearable. Not to mention that some of the lines are in a state of constant repair and the trains just ground to a halt in the tunnels sometimes and stand there endlessly, with passengers feeling trapped in some dark abyss. Oh yes, and the whole tunnel system is infested with rodents. Imagine how pathetic all those large adverts look on the walls of stations and along the escalators. I am quite frankly amazed that any company would want to be associated with the London Underground. It is like some anti-advertisement, if you ask...
Ken Plays The Race Card. And Loses
April 16, 2008
I don’t particularly follow the campaign for the London mayoral election. In fact, I don’t follow it at all. But when I heard about Ken Livingstone’s race relations manifesto for London I thought that I should say a few words on the subject. Of race relations, that is, and how some people use them for their own political gains. But first about Ken’s manifesto. In it he promises that he will set new targets to ensure that more black and Asian people work in public services. He also promises to set up an annual State of Community Equality report to monitor the numbers of ethnic staff hired. He claims that his main opponent, Tory candidate Boris Johnson, has no idea how multiculturalism works and that if he, Livingstone, loses the election racial tension will grow and it...
Vote For Ken As London Mayor. Boris Would Be A Disaster
March 31, 2008
I never thought I would say this but it would probably be better for everyone if Ken Livingstone stayd on as London’s Mayor after the election on May 1. This is very hard for me to admit because I have always been a fierce critic of Mr Livingstone and I honestly thought that he was the worst possible choice for the Mayor of London. I even seriously contemplated offering my help to any worthwhile candidate who would be willing to take on Red Ken this year. Among my many jobs in the past I did some PR work for big companies and helped President Boris Yeltsin win his second term in office when his popularity rating was close to zero. I was prepared to work for free this time and even came up with a rallying cry for my future candidate for London Mayor: ‘A modern city needs a modern mayor!’. But...
