New Rich Flaunting Their Wealth. How Dumb Is That?

Ben Delicious writes from Monte Carlo: Pardon me for asking, but how stupid can you be to flaunt your wealth? The latest example of this strange self-promotion comes from Tamara Ecclestone, who is busy showing off the money that her father gave her at any given opportunity. A filthy rich broad with no understanding of what style and class and commons sense are all about. With hacks writing long articles about her, as if she matters or can actually say anything of any interest. Yes, you need to be very vain to try to impress everyone around by ‘burning’ your cash (see the image to this post), wasting it on stupid things. The new rich are famous for that. Being unremarkable the only way they can attract any attention is to show off their buying power. Why, you may ask, flaunting...

Sorting Out The Budget Deficit In Britain. The Old Fashioned Way

Adam Lovejoy writes: So what should the young, vibrant, unelected British government – let’s face it, not a single soul in the whole country voted for a Tory/Liberal Democrat coalition – do to sort out the crippling budget deficit? Decisions, decisions, decisions, as they say. So many problems, so few options, as...

The Poor Artist’s Image. As Portrayed By Tracey Emin

Christopher Lee writes: So, that first class publicist and third-rate artist, Tracey Emin, claims she is thinking of leaving the UK in protest about being ‘overtaxed’. She is reported as saying that she is ‘very seriously considering leaving Britain,’ and that she is ‘simply not willing to pay tax at 50 per cent.’ TE also said that she is thinking of moving to France where they appreciate culture and artists. That last point is enormously true. The only question is why on earth does TE thinks she will be appreciated in art savvy France? At a Royal Academy fund raising dinner this year one of Tracey’s so-called ‘works of art’ struggled to get any bids when offered up for auction. Another artist – who was at Maidstone College and then the Royal College...
